INSTEX Is Only on Paper
TEHRAN – Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani has criticized French government over its attitude for saving the JCPOA and underlined that Europe’s financial mechanism “INSTEX” has left only on the paper.

During his meeting with head of the Foreign Policy Committee of the French National Assembly Marilelle de Samez in Tehran yesterday, Larijani underscored the significance of economic relations between Iran and France, adding that France can play a good role in the region.

He went on to say that despite several talks, French President’s vow to his Iranian counterpart for saving the JCPOA has not been materialized, adding that the financial mechanism INSTEX has actually remained on the paper.

He also pointed to the cooperation with the French in the city of Kashan, noting that while the banking relation between both countries has not been restored, how one can create the ground for economic activities between both states. Larijani added that French oil giant Total was the first company which left Iran after the U.S. pullout of the JCPOA.

He asserted that parliament members of both countries can play important role in decision-makings.

De Samez, for her part, said that parliamentary talks and relations are important because lawmakers of both countries can play effective role in the hard times and she considers bilateral ties very important.

She further added that Iran and France have relations in different fields like scientific, cultural, medical and sports and France is after developing it.

She reiterated that she intends to remind that France’s intention is to launch the INSTEX and France is committed to the JCPOA.

She reiterated that security and peace in the region is important for France and France wants Syria’s issue to be resolved through dialogues and the condition is provided for restoring peace in Yemen.

She emphasized that efforts are under way to save the JCPOA and France is determined in this regard and there is a strong will in EU for saving the JCPOA.
