The ceremony was held on Kharg Island and the indigenized jacking system of Shahid Modarrs offshore drilling rig joined the operation network.

The CEO of the company Mr. Seyed Abdollah Mousavi hailed the achievement which happens for the first time in the national drilling industry.

According to the public relations of the company, the system has been upgraded and has new design and hydoloc system which were carried out after thorough technical and engineering studies regarding the capacities and domestic capabilities.

For almost one year, Shahid Modarres Offshore Drilling Rig had gone aground because of defect in its jacking system. Experts and personnel of the company started study and work after the management ordered them for indigenizing the system and within three months, the system was designed and accomplished, and its installation in the network took two months after several tests.

The indigenized jacking system has been designed and launched based on the standards in the drilling industry and its cooling system and control have been upgraded with the least cost comparing to its foreign-made rival.

The system is fully made by Iranians without using foreign contractors.

In the older version of jacking system, the temperature of the oil during the operation used to rise but in the newly designed system and because of new cooling system, the temperature of the oil remains normal during the operation.

In the indigenized jacking system, its lift system has been improved and it acts without hits.

Addressing the ceremony, Mr. Mousavi hailed this achievement and called it the result of sanctions and its restrictions.

He noted that this success proved that no restriction can stop Iran from development especially in oil and drilling industries and it was a step towards self-sufficiency and reliance on the domestic capabilities which happened because of unity and cooperation of experts of the NIDC.

He went on to say that according to the early assessment, reconstruction of Shahid Modarres Offshore Drilling Rig by foreign contractors would have cost around 2b euros but experts of the company designed and made it with only 15b rials and saved around one million euros.

Mousavi underscored that activities of the company in offshore sector is very important and it should enhance its capabilities.
