TEHRAN – Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) Ali Shamkhani said that Iraqi people could break up the Takfiri terrorism with their unity, response to the call of authority and the power of Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF).
“The liberation of Deir Ezzor, which took place during the Valfajr operation, was the final blow to the remnants of the Takfiri terrorist group in Syria,” said Ali Shamkhani on Monday in an interview with Iranian Arabic al-Vefagh News.
In response to the recent position of officials of Iraqi Kurdistan Region regarding the holding of referendum, Sahmkhani said in the current situation that Iraq is approaching the final stage of liberating its soil from the Takfiri terrorists, these measures, which do not have legal validity, will definitely pose insecurity effects on the whole region, Iraq, and in particular the Kurdistan region.
Shamkhani noted that the problem of the Iraqi people is not resolved by deconstruction based on ethnic and religious orientations, and such measures, due to weakening of geopolitical and internal coherence, may also lead to new issues, and that it would provoke transregional powers to expand their economic and political dominance the region.
In response to a question regarding the transfer of ISIL forces and their families to al-Badiah region in Syria, Shamkhani said that the measure of Hezbollah to transfer some of the blocked elements from an operational axis in Syria to another axis in that country is an operational tactic and pose no change in the strategy of war with terrorists.
He added that the Islamic Republic of Iran and Syria support Hezbollah’s measures in clearing Lebanon from ISIL terrorists, noting that if it lacked the power and ability, Lebanon today would have been hosting ISIL terrorists from all over the world.
He said that some of the countries that claim to fight terrorism are not honest and serious, noting that these countries, and at the head of their alleged coalition, the United States, have not taken any effective action against the terrorists or the liberation of occupied territories from ISIL and other Takfiri groups.
