Persepolis football team defeated rock bottom Esteghlal Khuzestan on Thursday to move to top of Iran Professional League (IPL) table.
The Reds beat 10-man Esteghlal Khuzestan 2-0 in front of 25,000 spectators in Tehran’s Azadi Stadium.
Esteghlal Khuzestan defender Mostafa Kiani was sent off in the 35th minute after receiving his second yellow card.
Persepolis captain Jalal Hosseini found the back of the net with a header one minute after the hour mark.
Ali Alipour made it 2-0 in the 88th minute.
Padideh also was held to a 1-1 draw by Sanat Naft in Abadan and stayed at the third place.
On Friday, Sepahan will play Paykan in Tehran, Tractos Sazi meet Esteghlal in Tabriz, and Sepidrood host Machine Sazi.
Persepolis sits top of the table with 37 points.
Sepahan is second with 35 points and one game in hands.
