Persepolis football team defeated Padideh 2-0 to move top of the Iran Professional League (IPL) table on Wednesday.
Branko Ivankovic’s side, who had defeated Padideh 1-0 in its IPL opener in Mashhad, emerged victorious in front of 25,000 spectators in Tehran’s Azadi Stadium.
Ali Alipour made the scoreboard 1-0 in the 24th minute from the penalty spot.
Persepolis midfielder Shayan Mosleh was brought down in the area and the referee awarded a penalty to the host.
Siamak Nemati also scored a super goal in the 32nd minute.
Padideh tried to pull a goal back in the second half but failed to do that.
Furthermore, Tractor Sazi defeated Naft Masjed Soleyman 3-0 in Tabriz’s Yadegar-e Emam Stadium under coaching of its new head coach Georges Leekens.
Persepolis moved top of the table with 34 points, followed by Sepahan (32 points) and Padideh (31 points).
