Iran’s Parliament Speaker voiced readiness to take immediate actions toward stopping the mass killings of Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar and sending humanitarian aid to the oppressed people.

Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani said that in a statement on Wednesday while expressing his strongest condemnation over the ethnic cleansing of Rohyngya Muslims in the Rakhine state of Myanmar.

Larijani called on a UN fact finding mission to probe into the current situation of Burmese Muslims and facilitate the delivery of humanitarian assistance to them.

“Under the UN Charter and international resolutions, all governments, parliaments, international and regional organizations particularly the United Nations and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation are required to take measures in defense of Rohingya Muslims and restoring peace and security to the region,” stressed Larijani.

According to the UN statistics, over 400 Muslims have been killed in the past week after the Burmese forces cracked down on Rohingya Muslims who take up around one million of the population. Since 2012, more than 168,000 Rohingya have fled mostly to Bangladesh due to widespread persecution by Myanmar security forces.
