TEHRAN – The National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC) said Iran is currently exporting 42 million cubic meters of natural gas per day.
NIGC Managing Director Hamid Reza Araqi said the above, adding exports rose to the number by starting of gas exports to neighboring Iraq.
He said export of natural gas to neighboring countries will be rising in the future.
“Developing export infrastructure by laying out pipelines and construction of pressure boosting stations are seriously being considered by NIGC in order to increase its share in the gas market in the region,” he added.
Underlining that the signing of the contract for export of gas to Iraq was very important, Iranian deputy minister of oil and general manager of the National Gas Company of Iran Hamid-Reza Araqi said, the export of Iranian gas reached 42 million cubic meters per day and it will gradually increase.
“Exporting to the neighboring countries will continue under the contracts, while the volume of gas export and the number of target markets gradually increase,” he added.
