The Samsung Galaxy S10 series may support improved fast charging
Samsung’s 15W fast charging technology was pretty impressive when it first launched a few years back. However, subsequent solutions from rivals have aged the company’s tech quite a bit. With the Galaxy S10, though, this could all change.
According to tipster Ice Universe, Samsung is currently hard at work on new fast-charging technology. The source didn’t provide any numbers, so it’s unclear how big the leap in charging speeds will be, but he did state that Samsung’s current 15W solution will soon “become history.” This suggests that the company’s next-generation tech will be significantly more powerful.
No matter how quick Samsung’s solution is, there’s no denying the company faces tough competition from the likes of Huawei and OnePlus. In the case of the former, the Chinese giant now bundles a ridiculously-powerful 40W SuperCharger in with the Mate 20 Pro. This allows users to charge as much as 70% of the phone’s 4,200mAh battery in just 30 minutes. OnePlus, on the other hand, recently unveiled Warp Charge 30 which provides “a day’s power in 20 minutes.”
Unlike Apple, Samsung is expected to bundle its new fast chargers inside Galaxy S10 boxes. If Huawei’s plans are any indication, though, there’s a chance that owners of the Galaxy S10 Lite will have to make do with the company’s current 15W solution rather than the newer tech due to cost-cutting measures.
