TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Alireza Mokhtari Hamami from Iran earned a gold medal at the Men’s Shot Put F53 of the 2018 Asian Para Games on Wednesday.
Mokhtari won the gold with a throw of 8.73m as well as setting an Asian record.
Iranian thrower Asadollah Azimi snatched a silver with 8.35.
The bronze medal went to Iraqi Alaa Abdulsalam with 7.46m.
About 3,000 athletes with disabilities from a record 43 countries and territories are taking part in the games that opened in the Indonesian capital on Saturday.
The Asian Para Games will run through October 13.
