Member of Parliament Social Security and Foreign Policy Commission Mohammad Javad Jamali said that warning letter issued by the head of International Court of Justice (ICJ) is a sign of Iran’s diplomatic victory.

In an official letter addressed to the US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo last week, head of International Court of Justice (ICJ), while emphasizing the announcement of due date for investigating into the Iranian government complaint’s lodged against US over returning sanctions on Iran, urged US to avoid imposing any new move against Iran.

US move taken in reinstating unilateral sanctions imposed against Iran runs contrary to the international commitments as stipulated in a treaty in 1955, the issue of which is the lawsuit as lodged by Iran against US in the International Court of Justice, Jalali emphasized.

Under the treaty, the United States had been committed to have a good and fair conduct with the Iranian nationals and prevent any monetary and banking transactions, he reiterated.

He further noted that US has a long history in breaching international treaties, so that this issue is not new , he criticized.

Head of International Court of Justice has urged the United States to avoid imposing unilateral sanctions on Iran strictly, Jamali repeated.

Representative of people of Fasa in the Parliament emphasized that this verdict can be effective for the Islamic Republic of Iran in the international community and said, “although US has pulled out of JCPOA, Iran’s nuclear deal, unilaterally, measures taken by the ICJ can be considered as a pressure tool against this country.”

As headquartered in Hague, the Netherlands, International Court of Justice (ICJ) is the main judicial pillar of the United Nations, so that any legal discrepancies and disputes are reported to this authorized judicial court for settlement.
