Juventus goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon is close to joining Paris Saint-Germain, according to Sky in Italy.
The 40-year-old Italy legend, who left Juventus after 17 years at the end of the season, is in talks over joining the French Ligue 1 champions.
PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi recently praised Buffon in an interview with French newspaper L’Equipe, but insisted Alphonse Areola would remain first choice under new boss Thomas Tuchel.
Al-Khelaifi said: “We have Areola, he’s our No. 1. For sure (that will be the case next season).
“Buffon is a fantastic goalkeeper, he’s very charismatic and is a true gentleman. I’m sure all the clubs want him.”
Buffon received a guard of honour as he left the pitch in his last of 656 appearances for the Old Lady, being substituted in the 63rd minute of Saturday’s 2-1 win over Hellas Verona.
There were tears among the fans who gave Buffon a standing ovation following his 17 years with the Serie A champions.
