TEHRAN – Iranian weight lifters who faced difficulties in obtaining visas, are still being deliberately delayed in the US.
Shortly after Iranian national weight lifting team arrived in LEX airport, the Iranian weight lifter Sohrab Moradi was stopped at the passport check stands and was transferred to the airport police department for investigations which delayed the national team for five hours.
The gold medalist at the 2016 Olympics Sohrab Moradi had obtained his visa at the last moment to join Iran’s national team.
The world championship officials do not seem to have a well-organized plan with respect to Iran and certain other Asian teams such as Uzbekistan. The means of transportation from the airport to the hotel was also delayed and arrived only after hours.
The 2017 World Weightlifting Championships is held in Anaheim, United States from 28 November to 5 December 2017.
