TEHRAN- In a meeting with Iranian Industry Minister Mohammad Shariatmadari in Tehran on Saturday, Qatar’s Economy Minister Ahmed bin Jassim Al Thani called for the expansion of economic relations with Iran.
After the meeting with Al Thani, where the two minister discussed enhancement of mutual trade volume and removal of the related barriers in this regard, Shariatmadari announced that bilateral trade between the two countries has increased 120 percent during the past months and Qatar has suggested to reach the common trade value up to $5 billion in future, IRIB news reported on Saturday.
“In the past seven months, Iran has exported $97 million of goods and less than $1 billion of technical and engineering services to Qatar,” he added.
The Qatari minister, who was invited to Tehran by the Iranian industry minister, informed of the ever-increasing Iran-Qatar trade value within the past months and said that Iran plays a vital role for transportation of goods from Turkey and Azerbaijan to Qatar.
The ministers’ meeting was attended by the visiting Qatari trade and economic delegation as well as some Iranian entrepreneurs at the place of Iranian Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade.
