Gas Extraction from South Pars Increases by 25 Million Cubic Meters
TEHRAN (Iran News) Touraj Dehghani made the announcement during a meeting of public relations directors from subsidiaries of the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC), hosted by POGC. He described the achievement as a new record in daily gas production from South Pars, crediting it to the dedication and expertise of employees across operational and administrative sectors.
Dehghani highlighted Iran’s position as the second-largest holder of gas reserves in the world and the third-largest producer after the United States and Russia. “This increase in gas production capacity represents one of the most significant economic and operational achievements of the country,” he said. “However, Iran also ranks as the fourth-largest gas consumer globally.”
The POGC chief noted that the commissioning of three new wells in border areas of the South Pars field in recent days has added over 5 million cubic meters to the nation’s daily gas production — a result of months of effort by the company’s technical experts.
He also pointed to the increase in the number of active drilling rigs in the Persian Gulf gas fields, stating that six new rigs have been added over the past year, bringing the total number of operational rigs to ten. “Gas Extraction ”
Dehghani emphasized that, thanks to the company’s activities over the past year, 25 million cubic meters of new production capacity have been realized at South Pars. “With the completion of six additional wells by the end of this year, total daily capacity is expected to reach around 30 million cubic meters,” he added.
In closing, Dehghani expressed appreciation for the efforts of NIOC’s public relations departments in promoting and explaining the oil industry’s achievements.
