Scientific innovation and political thought were hallmarks of Allameh Naeini, says Leader
TEHRAN (Iran News) He made these remarks during a meeting with the organizers of the Allameh Naeini International Congress in Qom on Thursday.
Ayatollah Khamenei described Allameh Naeini (1860 – 1936) as a distinguished scholarly and spiritual figure of the seminary of Najaf, Iraq. He highlighted Naeini’s intellectual legacy, particularly his systematic approach to the science of Usul (principles of jurisprudence).
The Leader also noted Allameh Naeini’s role in mentoring distinguished students, pointing to his exceptional political insight, which is reflected in his influential yet underappreciated book “Tanbih al-Ummah” (The Awakening of the Nation).
According to Ayatollah Khamenei, Allameh Naeini’s political philosophy was rooted in the belief in establishing an Islamic government. He interpreted Allameh Naeini’s framework for an Islamic and popular government as what is now known as the Islamic Republic.
At the meeting, Ayatollah Alireza Arafi, the director of the Islamic Seminaries, presented a report on the programs and activities of the Allameh Naeini International Congress.
