Tehran condemns Trump’s ‘baseless’ anti-Iran remarks at Israeli Knesset
TEHRAN (Iran News) Iran’s foreign ministry has condemned “baseless accusations and irresponsible and shameful claims” by US President Donald Trump, made on Monday in the Israeli Knesset.
“The United States, as the largest producer of terrorism in the world and the supporter of the terrorist and genocidal Zionist regime, has no moral standing to accuse others,” the Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Tuesday.
The statement paid tribute to the late Lieutenant General Qassem Soleimani, the former head of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Quds force, and slammed Washington’s assassination of the top anti-terror commander.
“The people of Iran, while paying deep respect to the eternal hero of Iran and the region, martyr Haj Qassem Soleimani, who played an unparalleled role in confronting US-made Daesh terrorism, will never forgive or forget the brutal crime of the United States in assassinating that great man and his companions,” it said.
The ministry rejected allegations about Iran’s peaceful nuclear program and warned they could not justify joint crimes by the US and Israel, saying that confessing to aggression “only increases America’s responsibility for these crimes and shows the depth of American policymakers’ hostility towards the great people of Iran.”
In his speech, Trump further alleged that the US wants “to ensure that Iran never, and I mean never, acquires a nuclear weapon.”
The Iranian Foreign Ministry also condemned Washington over its complicity in “the genocide and warmongering of the Zionist regime in occupied Palestine” and called for the US to be held accountable for shielding Israel at the UN Security Council and blocking international judicial measures.
The statement blamed US interventionist policies, support for occupation and arms sales for turning America into “the greatest source of instability and insecurity in the region.”
It added, “Relying on their rich historical heritage, Iranians are people of reason, dialogue, and interaction, and they act with courage and decisiveness to defend Iran’s independence, national dignity and interests.”
