TEHRAN (Iran NewsDockworkers in the northern Italian city of Genoa staged a walkout and blocked access to the port on Monday, joining nationwide strikes organized by unions to protest against the Israeli war in Gaza.

The measure disrupted transport services and forced the closure of several schools across Italy, as labor groups said their action was meant to show solidarity with Palestinians.

In Genoa, demonstrators gathered outside the port at dawn, some waving Palestinian flags. In the Tuscan port city of Livorno, workers also blocked one of the main entrances.

Union activists said they want to stop Italian ports from being used to move weapons or military equipment destined for Israel.
“The Palestinian people continue to give us yet another lesson in dignity and resistance,” said Ricky, a protester in Genoa from a group called the Autonomous Port
