Araqchi hails shifts in global order amid condemnation of Israeli, U.S. strikes on Iran

TEHRAN (Iran NewsForeign Minister Abbas Arqhchi says the world is undergoing profound and foundational economic and political transformations, as he praised BRICS nations for condemning recent Israeli and U.S. military aggressions against Iran.

While in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, to attend a BRICS summit, Araqchi wrote in a post on social media platform X on Monday that the grouping’s “strong and unequivocal condemnation” of recent attacks on Iranian nuclear and civilian infrastructure underlines a global shift in power dynamics.

“In no uncertain terms, the deliberate attacks on Iranian civilian infrastructure and nuclear sites under I.A.E.A. safeguards violate both international law and norms,” Araqchi stated.

The foreign minister underscored the growing global influence of BRICS – a bloc composed of Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, and recently expanded to include countries such as Iran, Egypt, and the United Arab Emirates – describing the group as representative of “states making up 40% of global GDP and almost half the world’s population.”

“Here at the BRICS summit in Rio… the tectonic economic & political shifts our planet is witnessing have never been more apparent,” he added. “Iran welcomes and is delighted to be part of the dawn of a new era.”
