TEHRAN (Iran News) – Tajikistan’s ambassador in Tehran was summoned to Foreign Ministry on Friday following broadcast of a series from Tajik state television raising false and biased allegations against Iran.
According to a Foreign Ministry statement, Iran’s strong protest over the irresponsible conduct of Tajik state television was conveyed to the ambassador of that country during the meeting, iranpress.com reported.
This is the second time the Tajik ambassador is summoned to the Iranian Foreign Ministry in protest to the so-called documentary that was recently shown by the Tajik TV.
The Tajik diplomat was told that Iran seeks friendly, fraternal, and mutually respectful relations with Tajikistan, but continuation of such behavior by the Tajik government is against the rules of friendly relations, and that the Tajik government must be aware of the consequences of such behavior, the foreign ministry noted.
“The Islamic Republic of Iran expects the government of Tajikistan to correct its approach, especially in halting the false propaganda against the Islamic Republic of Iran on its television,” the foreign ministry told the Tajik envoy.
The Tajik ambassador, for his part, stated during the meeting that he would convey Iran’s protest to his respective government as soon as possible.
