Regional Affairs Discussed by Iran, Japan
Ranking diplomats from Iran and Japan talked over the latest regional developments and issues of mutual concern at a meeting in Tehran.

TEHRAN (Iran News)The 32nd consultative meeting between the deputy foreign ministers of Iran and Japan was held in Tehran on December 15.

The meeting was co-chaired by Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs Majid Takht Ravanchi and Senior Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan Funakoshi Takehiro.

Highlighting the historical diplomatic ties between Iran and Japan and the importance of bilateral talks at various levels, Takht Ravanchi called for the expansion of bilateral relations in different fields, particularly in the economic and trade sectors.

He also condemned the Israeli regime’s continued genocidal crimes in Palestine and the expansion of the scope of Zionist aggression into Syria.

The Iranian diplomat then stressed the shared responsibility of the international community to combat the heinous crimes, specially war crimes and genocide, urging all countries to take serious measures to stop the atrocities by the Israeli regime and prosecute its leaders.

Takht Ravanchi also appreciated Japan’s effective role in contributing to the security and stability in West Asia, the Foreign Ministry’s website reported.

For his part, Funakoshi reiterated the historical and friendly relations between Iran and Japan, noting that the presence of a Japanese government representative at Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian’s inauguration and the discussions held between the heads of both states are indicative of Japan’s commitment to deepening bilateral ties.

He also described the political consultations between the two countries on global and regional developments, especially in the current situation in West Asia, as crucial.

Funakoshi finally affirmed Japan’s readiness to continue and deepen bilateral talks with Iran.
