The governor of Sudan’s state of Gedaref as well as a number of other Sudanese officials were killed Sunday in a plane crash, local media reported.
The airplane carrying Governor Mirghani Salih was en route from the eastern city of Gedaref to the city of Galabat, in the same state, reported satellite TV Ashorooq, which is close to Sudan’s government, without identifying the officials on board, Anadolu Agency reported.
According to the same TV channel, the plane carrying the governor and a number of other officials crashed and burned up while trying to land at the airport.
Salih and other officials were reportedly killed, but there were attempts to rescue some other officials from the crash, according to the same source.
