TEHRAN– Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani cautioned the Palestinian groups about enemies’ continued efforts to provoke division among Resistance forces.
“From the very first days, the Zionist regime has tried to remove the resistance forces; what is important is that Palestinian groups end their differences and unite against the Israeli regime,” he noted, speaking at the meeting with Deputy Head of Hamas’ Political Bureau Saleh al-Arouri and the accompanying delegation in Tehran Saturday.
“Enemies have tried to remove you (Palestinian resistance groups) or portray you as an ineffective group,” Larijani said, adding, “You should not allow them to be successful in their divisive move.”
As regards Iran’s stance on Palestine, the Iranian parliament speaker said Iran has always been a supporter of Palestinian nation and the resistance group.
Also at the meeting, Arouri briefed Larijani on the recent agreement reached between the Palestinian groups.
He said Hamas believes that differences should be resolved but the group will not back down from its firm stance about resistance against the Zionist regime of Israel.
“We will not lay down our weapons as long as the occupation is in place. That is our indispensable rights,” Arouri said.
Heading a delegation, al-Arouri has traveled to the Iranian capital to sit down with senior Iranian officials and discuss the latest developments on the Palestinian arena, especially the reconciliation file, as well as bilateral relations.
The visit follows the current developments in the Palestinian occupied lands which resulted in a reconciliation agreement between the Gaza-based Hamas movement and Fatah movement in the West Bank.
