On February 2017 by President of the Republic of Uzbekistan was approved the Action Strategy on five priority directions on development of Uzbekistan is designed for 2017-2021. In separate paragraph of this document has been designated the main directions of development of the tourism sector of Uzbekistan for the next 5 year.
In particular in paragraph 3.6 stipulated:
- accelerated development of the tourism industry, improving management system of the tourism sector;
- optimize visa procedures, licensing and licensing procedures in the tourism sector;
- active attraction of foreign investments, world brands and creation of favorable conditions for conducting business in the sphere of tourism;
- creation of a new tourist itineraries, development of modern types of tourism and increase of their attractiveness.
Besides, President of Uzbekistan signed Resolutions «On Programme of integrated development of the tourism potential of Khiva and the Khorezm region for 2017-2021», «The Programme of accelerated development of the tourist potential of Bukhara and Bukhara region for 2017-2019» and «The Programme of activities for accelerated development of the tourist potential of Samarkand and Samarkand region for 2017-2019».
According to the adopted Programs in the cities of Samarkand, Bukhara and Khiva taking into account modern requirements will be created additional favorable conditions for the constant reception of tourists, including through the construction of railway lines which connecting the main tourist centers of the country, organizing charter flights and increasing the number of regular flights from Europe, Asia and the CIS countries.
During the period 2017-2021 planned construction in these cities new hotels, recreational, shopping and entertainment centers, and other objects of tourist infrastructure with the creation of the necessary conditions for the development of tourism, as well as improvement of tourism routes and the quality of the provided services which contributing to increase flow of tourists and their period of stay in the regions, including through implantation new types of touristic services.
Will be improved public catering system and create conditions for evening leisure of tourists, including through construction of modern restaurants, theatrical concert performances of Uzbek national music, demonstration of national customs and traditions on the territory of cultural heritage sites.
It is planned to install ATMs and POS-terminals at tourism objects, organize currency exchange offices, Wi-Fi zones in tourism attractions.
Besides in adopted Programs specified of conducting wide advertising campaign and promotion of the brand of Samarkand, Bukhara and Khiva through the holding of thematic festivals, such as «Silk and spices», «Kovun sayli», «City day», «Oriental cuisine», «Craftsman of Bukhara, Samarkand and Khiva», «Breads of Samarkand», «Oriental sweets», etc. Organization of info tours for foreign tourism organizations and representatives of mass media, as well as promotion of tourism capacity on popular foreign channels, special websites and popular social networks.
It is planned to carry out of works on preparation of personnel for the tourism industry of these cities through organization education and improving qualification of teachers of the professional colleges, tourism workers in regions, organization of short-term training courses, seminars and workshops with wide participation of international specialists and experts in order to improve the quality of service of tourists.
Special attention in this Program is also paid to promotion of pilgrimage tourism and increase the flow of tourist pilgrims.
In the framework of the implementation of the concept of development of the tourism industry of the Republic of Uzbekistan in 2017-2021 also provides for improvement normative-legal regulation in the sphere of tourism.
In particular, it is planned to draft a new law “On tourism” in the new edition. The law adopted in 1999 at the present stage not able to provide adequate legal regulation of all topical issues of development of the tourism sphere in the country.
It is expected that the implementation of these Programs during 2017-2021 would increase the number of foreign tourists and the volume of export of tourist services by two times.
