TEHRAN – Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has praised “The Midday Event”, a political drama that features the terrorist atrocity of the Mojahedin-e-Khalq Organization (MKO) in Iran of the 1980s.
“This film was very good. Everybody played his part very well; the directing was great, the acting was very good. The plot was great. It was a well-made film,” the Leader said in his February 20 meeting with the film cast and crew.
The remarks were quoted by the Islamic Revolution Document Center in a press release published on Saturday.
Ayatollah Khamenei had watched the movie previously during a private screening in February 2017.
“The Midday Event” by director Mohammad-Hossein Mahdavian was crowned best at the 35th Fajr Film Festival in February 2017.
The film also won the audience Crystal Simorgh and the award for best film from the national point of view. In addition, it received the Crystal Simorgh for best set and costume design.
“The Midday Event”, which is based on a real-life story, features the activities of MKO leading to the assassinations of numerous high-ranking Iranian officials in 1981.
The MKO is an Iranian political–militant organization in exile that carried out many terrorist operations during the 1980s attempting to overthrow the Iranian government.
