TEHRAN – Musicians from the northeastern Iranian region of Khorasan will be performing during a three-night event in Tehran.

The festival entitled “Khorasan Music Nights” will begin at Rudaki Hall on May 17, the director of the festival, Alireza Jalalian, told the Persian service of MNA on Saturday.

The Saba ensemble will give a performance on the first night and Simorgh and Zhendepil, two major music groups from the region will put on performances during the program.

“The groups have prepared repertoires of their greatest popular pieces for the festival,” Jalalian said.

“There is no support for regional music and concertgoers are familiar with the attractions of this type of music,” he lamented.

He noted that there is no commercial purpose behind the program and said that they intend to familiarize people with a collection of performances of regional music of high quality.
