Iran’s Female Taekwondo practitioners received one silver and one bronze medal at 2018 Jeju Korea Open International Taekwondo Championships.

Maryam Malakoutikhah, at under-46 kg body weight category, managed to reach the final but grabbed the silver medal after losing the match to South Korean rival.

At under-57 kg bodyweight category, Parisa Javadi beat competitors from Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Hong Kong and advanced to the semifinal but suffered loss to Hong Kong’s representative and snatched the bronze medal.

The competition kicked off on July 18 and will wrap up on July 24 in Jeju’s Halla Gymnasium, South Korea. Some 2500 athletes from 60 different countries compete in 3 categories of Kyorugi, Poomsae and Color Belts Kyorugi.

Iranian squad comprising 10 female Taekwondos has participated in the event.
