TEHRAN – Mehrdad Farid has said that there will be no change in “Beautiful Jinn”, a co-production between Iran and Turkey.

He made the remarks in response to some reports published on Persian news outlets, which announced that the Iranian Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance, Abbas Salehi, has ordered Farid and the film’s director, Bairam Fazli, to replace Nurgul Yesilçay, the Turkish actress who is known in Iran for her role in the acclaimed TV series “The Magnificent Century”, with an Iranian actress.

“It is completely impossible to make any change in the cast or reshoot scenes from the movie,” Farid told the Persian service of ILNA on Saturday.

“When we submitted the screenplay to the Cinema Organization of Iran and applied for a production license for the movie, it was clear that the Turkish actress would play a role in the project and they authorized the project due to this fact,” he added.

He noted that “Beautiful Jinn” has been produced based on a contract with a Turkish company and the Iranian side is not allowed to change it unilaterally.

Farid said that he is planning to premiere the film in Iran, Turkey and several Arab countries. He also announced his plan to submit the film to the Fajr Film Festival, which will be held in Tehran during February 2018.
