TEHRAN – Iran lost to the U.S. and Uganda respectively in the Women’s FIBA 3×3 World Cup on Saturday.

The Iranian women’s team started the campaign with a 21-7 loss to the U.S. at the Philippine Arena in Bocaue, Bulacan.

The Persians suffered their second loss in a row hours later, being beaten by Uganda 18-10 in Pool C.

“This is our first time to compete in the FIBA 3×3 World Cup,” bared Mozghan Khodadi, who calls American basketball player Sue Bird and French star Tony Parker as her biggest influences.

“Before because the hijab wasn’t allowed, we weren’t able to play. So it was only recently that we were able to compete. All of this is a new experience and we welcome this.”

Khodadi scored only one point against the Americans.

Iran will play title-holder Russia and Andorra on Monday.
