Iranian filmmaker Vahid Mousaian is coming to the 11th ‘Cinema Verite’ with his new documentary ‘The Symphony of Iran’. In the documentary Fereydoun Shahbazian, famous musician, composer and current leader of Iran National Orchestra goes on a journey to find the roots of Iranian traditional and Mugham music, IRNA reported. It took Mousaian nine years to complete the film. “We wanted to show Iranian traditional and Mugham music in detail, so we made numerous travels to different parts of Iran including Sistan and Baluchestan, Khorasan, Golestan, East Azarbaijan, Kermanshah and Lorestan provinces as well as Khaaf and Turkmen Sahra regions, (that is why) it took too long”, said Mousaian who has directed and produced the film. Shahbazian, the main character of the documentary, is also the researcher of the project along with Jahangir Ashrafi, another well-known musician.  ‘Cinema Verite’ is considered the most significant Iranian event on documentary cinema. It is organized by the Documentary and Experimental Film Center, the largest center for production, distribution and promotion of documentary, animated and experimental pictures in the Middle East. It will be held December 10-17 in Tehran.
