Iranian feature ‘Redhead’ directed by Karim Lakzadeh will be competing at the 23rd edition of Split Film Festival in Croatia.

Written and directed by Lakzadeh, ‘Redhead’ is the story of Farhad, with a family tragedy lurking around him and gaining atmospheric shape on the drive to their parents’ house as they learn their uncle has put a claim on the house despite their father’s will that has bequeathed it to his own children. An argument leads to more tragic incidents and soon cursed visions start to appear in Farhad’s life.

Split Film Festival or Split International Festival of New Film is one of the oldest film and video festivals in Croatia that showcases new, creative, personal, radical works of all styles, themes, genres and lengths, whether film, or new media, preferably from outside the mainstream.

The 2017 film won best director award at the 4th Eurasia International Monthly Film Festival in Russia and the 66th International Film Festival Mannheim-Heidelberg, Germany.

Lakzadeh has directed and written three other art house films including ‘Scissor’ (2015), ‘A Girl in the Room’ (2016) and ‘The Gambler’ (2017).
