 Russian President’s Special Envoy for Syria Alexander Lavrentiev affirmed his country’s determination to combat terrorism in Syria.

“Large numbers of terrorists, including members from Jabhat al-Nusra and ISIL, are still there in the de-escalation zones and in Idleb too,” Lavrentiev said in a statement quoted by RT following a meeting held by representatives of guarantor countries with UN special envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura.

He added that there are “gangs from those terrorists of Russian origin.”

In this regard Lavrentiev pointed out to the importance of activating the efforts of political solution and the decisions of the Syrian National Dialogue congress of Sochi.
